Women who have both their ovaries removed surgically before the age of 45 may be at increased risk.

A study from the Lancet Oncology reported on a group of American women who had their ovaries removed between 1950 and 1987. By the end of the study it became clear that those who had had both their ovaries removed before the age of 45 were at a small increased risk of death, when compared to women who did not have their ovaries removed. However, the increased risk was not present in those women who took estrogen replacement until the age of 45.
